Using the Web

Learning from Web Sites

You know that you can use books to find out things. Did you also know that you can use Web sites on your computer? Here is an activity that gives you a chance to see and learn from Web sites.

Symbols are things that stand for something else. Go on a scavenger hunt to find out about symbols of the United States. Read the questions. Then click on the underlined words to go to Web sites and find the answers. Write your answers on this American Symbols worksheet. You can print it out or ask your teacher to print it out for you.

After you have found the answer to each question, click on the arrow with the word "Back" written under it. It might look like this:  there is a picture of a browser windows back button which has a left facing arrow.   The arrow will be at the top of your computer screen. That will bring you back to this Web site.

there is an animated picture of Galapagus the Turtle pointing to a start button

To open these files, you will need Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ 4.0 or above installed. If you are using Internet Explorer, you may see a blank window or frame instead of the .pdf file. If this happens please read this important note.
